Descripción
Shrubs 1-1.5 m tall, the stems green, sparsely stellate-pubescent to glabrate. Leaf blades mostly 3-9 cm long, lanceolate to ovate, sometimes trilobed, subcordate to truncate, serrate-crenate, acute, sparsely stellate-pubescent to glabrate; petioles usually 1/4 (-1/2) the length of the blades; stipules 4-8 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 0.5-6 cm long; involucellar bracts 8-9, equaling or exceeding the calyx, distinct, linear, persistent; calyx 6-10 mm long, ca. 2/3-divided, neither accrescent nor inflated, ciliate-margined, the lobes acute or acuminate; corolla rotate, the petals 1-2 cm long, lavender (sometimes white); staminal column included, erect, glabrous, pallid, the filaments 2-3.5 mm long, the anthers yellowish; styles slender, glabrous, the stigmas 0.5-0.6 mm in diameter, purplish. Capsules 9-13 mm long, subglobose, fully dehiscent, antrorsely strigose, the hairs 1-1.5 mm long; seeds 2.5 mm long, densely sericeous, the hairs to 4 mm long, brownish. Chromosome number: 2n = 22.A
