Descripción

Procumbent (but not repent), decumbent, or erect perennial herbs, with simple hairs and fine stellate pubescence. Leaves petiolate, distichous, the blades symmetrically lance-ovate or oblong-ovate, crenate-dentate, lacking foliar nectaries; stipules present. Flowers solitary or fasciculate in the leaf axils; involucel absent; calyx deeply 5-lobed, accrescent and inflated in fruit, becoming reticulate-membranous by disintegration of all but the finely reticulate vasculature; petals yellowish (fading rose); androecium included, styles 5-9, the stigmas capitellate. Fruits schizocarpic, the mericarps 5~9, indehiscent, relatively fragile and unornamented; seeds solitary, glabrous. Base chromosome number: x = 8.A

Krapovickasia is a genus of four species, one Mexican and three South American, extending from Uruguay to Peru.A
