Shrubs 0.5-1 m tall, the stems sparsely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 4-8 cm long, ovate to lanceolate, often hastately lobulate, irregularly dentate, acute, slightly discolorous, sparsely stellate-pubescent to glabrate; petioles 1-2.5 cm long; stipules 4-10 mm long, subulate, rigid and persistent. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, pedicels 1-8 cm long, articulated 3-7 mm below the flowers; bracts of the involucel ca. 9, 8-15 mm long, distinct, narrowly lanceolate; calyx 6-9 mm long, about half-divided, moderately stellate-pubescent, neither accrescent nor inflated; petals ca. 2 cm long, glabrous, yellow throughout; staminal column 5-6 mm long, glabrous, pallid, the filaments 1-3 mm long; styles distally free for ca. 4 mm, slender; stigmas 0.7 mm in diameter, maroon. Capsules 8-12 mm long, subglobose, antrorsely strigose at least in distal half; seeds 2.5 mm long, reniform, densely sericeous, the hairs ca. 5 mm long, sordid or whitish with brownish base.
