Descripción
Shrubs 1-3 m tall, the stems sparsely stellate-pubescent to glabrate. Leaf blades 3-5 cm long, lanceolate to ovate, truncate, coarsely serrate, acute or acuminate, sparsely stellate-pubescent; petioles 3—7 mm long; stipules 4-8 mm long, erect, spinescent. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 1-3.5 cm long, articulated 8~20 mm below the flowers; involucel basally rounded, the bracts 8-9, 15-18 mm long, 1.2-2 mm wide, connate at base for 1-1.5 mm, linear; calyx 10~13 mm long, ca. 1/3-divided, neither accrescent nor inflated, the tube slightly urceolate, the lobes acute, purplish; petals 17-18 mm long, red, glabrous, forming a tubular corolla; androecium exserted, the column 22-23 mm long, glabrous, the filaments 2-3 mm long; styles glabrous, the stigmas 0.2-0.5 mm in diameter. Capsules 8-10 mm long, oblong-ovoid, essentially glabrous, included in the calyx; seeds 2-3 mm long, sericeous, the hairs brownish, 3—4 mm long. Chromosome number unknown.A
