Descripción
Shrubs to 1.5 m tall, the stems stellate-pubescent, the hairs 3-6-armed. Leaf blades mostly 2-7 cm long, ovate to weakly 3-lobed, subcordate to truncate, crenate-dentate, usually acute, subglabrous above, sparsely stellate-pubescent to glabrate beneath, with an obscure nectary at base of the midrib beneath; petioles 1/4-1/3 (rarely 1/2) the length of the blades; stipules 2-9 mm long, erect, spinescent, persistent. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 2-3 cm long, sparsely pubescent; involucellar bracts ca. 8, 8-11 mm long, lanceolate, distinct; calyx 8-11 mm long, ca 2/3-divided, neither accrescent nor inflated, sparsely to densely stellate-pubescent; petals 3-3.5 cm long, yellow (fading rose), essentially glabrous; staminal column 8 mm long, pallid, glabrous, the filaments 3-4 mm long; styles pallid, the stigmas 0.7-0.9 mm diameter, purple. Capsules 9-16 mm long, oblongoid, antrorsely strigose, the hairs 1-1.5 mm long; seeds 2.5-3 mm long, sericeous, the hairs 3 mm long, sordid. Chromosome number unknown.A
