Descripción
Perennial subshrubs 0.5-1 m tall, the stems densely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades 1.5-3 cm long, ovate to orbicular, truncate, dentate to subentire, obtuse to acute, densely tomentose above and beneath; petioles 1/3 the length of the blades or less; stipules 2-3 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 0.5- 1.5 (-4.5) cm long, densely pubescent; involucellar bracts 0.5-4 mm long (sometimes absent), subulate, persistent; calyx 11-15 mm long, deeply divided, densely pubescent, neither accrescent nor inflated, the lobes lanceolate-acuminate, 3- nerved; corolla rotate, the petals 20-27 mm long, lavender or white, usually with a purplish spot at base, sometimes ciliate on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column 8-9 mm long, glabrous, sometimes purplish basally, the filaments 2-3 mm long; styles glabrous or sparsely hairy, the stigmas 0.9 mm in diameter, often maroon.
