Descripción
Shrubs 1-1.5 m tall, the stems densely tomentose, the stellate hairs whitish or ferrugineous, interlaced. Leaf blades 2-5 cm long, ovate, truncate or cordate, crenate or dentate, rounded-acute, discolorous, densely tomentose; petioles 1/4-1/2 the length of the blades; stipules 1-3 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, actinomorphic; pedicels 2-4.5 cm long, tomentose; involucellar bracts 6-7, 7-13 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, lanceolate or spatulate, distinct, tomentose; calyx 15-25 mm long, deeply divided, neither accrescent nor inflated, tomentose; corolla campanulate (?), the petals 34 cm long, bright red (drying red-purple), glabrous throughout (including claw); staminal column 15-18 mm long, glabrous, pallid, the filaments 10~18 mm long, slender; styles reddish, free for the distal 10 mm, slender, sparsely pubescent, the stigmas 0.3-1 mm in diameter, reddish, slightly exceeding the petals. Capsules 8—14 mm long, oblong-ovoid, glabrous; seeds ca. 2.5 mm long, sericeous, the hairs 3—4 mm long. Chromosome number unknown.A
