Descripción
Shrubs to 1.5 m tall; the stems stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 3-8 cm long, cordate-ovate or weakly trilobed, crenate-dentate to subentire, acute, stellate pubescent above and beneath, with an obscure nectary at the base of the midrib beneath; petioles 1/3-1 times the length of the blades; stipules 4-5 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 2--8 cm long (shorter in flower), stellate pubescent; involucellar bracts 9, 8-10 mm long and 3 mm wide in flower to 12-15 mm long and 4.5-5.5 mm wide in fruit, broadly spatulate, pubescent; calyx 16-19 mm long in flower, to 22 mm long in fruit, ca. half-divided, stellate-pubescent; corolla campanulate, the petals usually 2.5-4.5 cm long, lavender, abaxially stellate pubescent, ciliate on margins of claw, otherwise glabrous; androecium subequal to the petals, the staminal column pallid, glabrous, the filaments 2-4 mm long; styles with scattered white hairs, the stigmas 0.7-0.8 mm in diameter, reddish. Capsules 12-14 mm long, ovoid, stellate-hispid, the hairs ca. 1 mm long; seeds 3 mm long, sericeous, the hairs 5 mm long, chestnut-colored. Chromosome number: 2n = 22.A
