Shrubs 1-3 m tall, the stems sparsely and minutely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 8-12 cm long, ovate, deeply cordate, subentire, acuminate, some- what discolorous, the upper surface sparsely and minutely pubescent (subglabrous); petioles ca. 2/3 the length of the blades on midstem leaves, shorter distally; stipules prominent and foliaceous but early deciduous, sessile, asymmetrically auriculate, eciliate, acuminate, in the inflorescence forming laciniate floral bracts. Inflorescence racemose or paniculate, mostly above the leaves; pedicels 2-15 mm long; calyx 8~10 mm long, minutely puberulent, ca. half-divided, somewhat reflexed in fruit; corolla rotate, without a dark center, the petals 18-20 mm long, yellow; staminal column 4-5 mm long, pallid, stellate-pubescent at least at base, the filaments 3-4 mm long, the anthers pallid; styles ca. 10, exceeding androecium, the stigmas purplish. Fruits 6-8 mm long, 8-9 mm in diameter, densely and minutely stellate-puberulent; mericarps ca. 10, 3-seeded, apically acute to obtuse; seeds 2-2.5 mm long, minutely scabridulous.
