Shrubs 1-2 m tall, the stems erect, usually green, prominently hirsute, the hairs simple, 2-4 mm long, spreading. Leaf blades mostly 10~20 cm long, broadly ovate, 3-5-angulate or -lobulate, deeply cordate, irregularly crenate-serrate, acuminate, markedly discolorous, evenly and minutely stellate-pubescent above, softly felted- tomentose beneath; petioles subequal to the blades; stipules 5-9 mm long, subulate. Flowers sometimes solitary in the leaf axils but generally in ample terminal panicles rising above the leaves; pedicels 1-4 cm long, articulated 4-8 mm below the flowers; calyx 4-6 mm long, 14-%-divided, stellate-pubescent; corolla rotate, without a dark center, the petals 5-8 mm long, yellowish; staminal column glabrous; styles ca. 10.
