Descripción
Shrubs 0.5-1.5 m tall, the stems sparsely to densely stellate-pubescent, with or without longer simple hairs. Leaf blades mostly 5-11 cm long, narrowly ovate (up to twice as long as wide), deeply cordate, crenate, acute or slightly acuminate, palmately 7-9-nerved, markedly discolorous (green above, beneath), sparsely scabridulous above, densely soft-tomentose beneath; petioles ½ -1 times white the leaf length of the blades; stipules 2-4 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the axils; pedicels 2-8 cm long, articulated 4~8 mm below the flowers, with pubescence similar to that of stem; calyx 1-1.5 cm long in flower, softly white- tomentose, deeply 5-lobed, the lobes broadly cordate (overlapping basally, the buds 5-angled), accrescent in fruit (up to 2.5 cm long, the lobes to 2 cm wide); corolla rotate, without a dark center, the petals 1.5-2.5 cm long, yellow or yellow-orange, ciliate on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column 5 mm tall, pallid, glabrous, 10-nerved, apically antheriferous, the filaments 34 mm long, ca. 50, 1.5 the ¢m anthers yellow; styles 13-15, pallid, exceeding the androecium.
