Shrubs 1-2 m tall, softly stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 7-12 cm long, half as wide, ovate, deeply cordate, serrate, acuminate, more or less discolorous, sparsely pubescent above, densely whitish pubescent beneath; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades; stipules 5-7 mm long, lanceolate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils or in apical panicles; pedicels more than 3 cm long; calyx 1- 1.5 cm long, soft-puberulent, ca. 2/3 divided, the lobes lance-ovate, the bases over- lapping and plicate in bud; corolla rotate, without a dark center, the petals 10-18 mm long, yellow or yellow-orange; staminal column 3-4 mm long, pallid, glabrous, the filaments ca. 2 mm long, ca. 50, the anthers yellow; styles 10-12, slender, pallid. Fruits 8-10 mm long and wide, hirsute, about equaling the calyx, loculicidally dehiscent; mericarps 10-12, 3-seeded, apically acute; seeds 2 mm long, blackish, papillate. Chromosome number unknown. A
