Descripción
Subshrubs or shrubs 0.5-1 m tall, erect, with ascending branches, the stems minutely stellate-puberulent and also with few to many simple hairs 0.5-1 mm long. Leaf blades mostly 2-10 cm long (smaller upward), 1.5-4 cm wide, lance-ovate to rhombic, crenate or serrate distally, acute, sparsely to densely hirsute beneath especially on veins, the hairs simple, 0.5-1 mm long, antrorsely appressed-hirsute or glabrate above; petioles less than 1/4 the length of the blades; stipules 3-7 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils or in few-flowered axillary clusters, scattered along the stem but often crowded apically; pedicels 2-3 times as long as the calyces near apex to 68 times as long as calyces below; calyx 7-9 mm long, plicately 10-ribbed, the ribs often sparsely hirsute; petals 8-10 mm long, yellow orange; staminal column 2-2.5 mm long, pubescent, the filaments 2 mm long; styles 8-10. Fruits ca. 2.5 mm high, 6-7 mm in diameter, oblate; mericarps 8-10, glabrate, muticous, laterally reticulate. Chromosome number unknown. A
