Descripción
Erect subshrubs 0.5~1 m tall, the stems loosely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 2-4 cm long (smaller upward), 5-8 mm wide, lanceolate to oblanceolate or subrhomboid, basally truncate-cuneate and entire, distally serrate, acute, markedly discolorous, the upper surface green with appressed simple hairs ca. 1 mm long, the lower surface whitish, densely and minutely stellate-tomentose; petioles 3 mm long or less; stipules exceeding the petiole, falcate, commonly 3-nerved, ciliate. Flowers in axillary clusters of 1-4, usually shorter than the subtending leaves; pedicels to 1.5 cm long (the flowers often subsessile), slender; calyx 5-7 mm long, basally 10-ribbed, the lobes 2-3 mm wide, ciliate, ovate-acuminate, sometimes red-margined; corolla with a red center, the petals ca. 8 mm long, white or pale yellow, glabrous except sparsely ciliate on claw; androecium glabrous; styles 5. Fruits oblate or subconical, glabrous; mericarps 5, laterally reticulate. Chromosome number: 2n = 14.A
