Descripción
Erect herbs or subshrubs, the stems, petioles, and pedicels green and densely hirsute when young, with slender simple hairs 2-4 mm long, stout scabrid hairs 1 mm long, and an understory of minute stellate and glandular hairs. Leaf blades to 8 cm long (progressively smaller upward), triangular or hastate, truncate, obscurely crenate, acute, with appressed simple hairs above, stellate hairs beneath; petioles subequal to the blades; stipules 5-6 mm long, filiform. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, more or less aggregated apically; pedicels 2-3 cm long in flower to 8 cm long in fruit; calyx 5~-6 mm long, slightly accrescent (to 7 mm) in fruit, 10-ribbed, densely pubescent; corolla without a dark center, the petals -9 mm long, yellow, prominently hirsute on margins of claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column ca. 4.5 styles ca. 13. mm long, pallid, densely hirsute, the anthers ca. 20, the filaments 1-1.5 mm long; Fruits ca. 9 mm in diameter, oblate, densely pubescent; mericarps ca. 13, with a dorsal spine ca. 1 mm long, the lateral walls evanescent, the reticulate endocarp weakly developed and not enclosing the seed; seeds ca. 2.3 mm long, glabrous.
