Descripción
Herb or subshrub, annual or perennial, suberect or decumbent to prostrate, the stems prominently or obscurely hispid or almost glabrous. Leaf blades highly variable in size and form, palmately lobed below to narrowly hastate above, subentire, acute, sparsely pubescent with appressed simple hairs to glabrate above and be- neath, sometimes with an irregular purple blotch along the midrib; petioles usually less than half the length of the blades. Flowers long-pedicellate in the leaf axils; calyx 6-11 mm long in flower, accrescent to 10-15 mm long in fruit, often hispid; corolla without a dark center, the petals 12-18 mm long, purple or lavender; staminal column shorter than the petals, basally glabrous, apically hispid, the filaments 2-3 mm long; styles 7-11. Fruits 8-11 mm in diameter, oblate, with short spurs less than 1.5 mm (or these absent), densely hispid; mericarps 7-11, gibbous, indehiscent, the lateral walls evanescent; seeds 2.5 mm long, glabrous, endocarp absent.
