Erect herbs or subshrubs, the stems, petioles, and pedicels evenly and minutely stellate-scabridulous, sometimes purplish pigmented on one side. Leaf blades up to 10 cm long (smaller and narrower upward), hastately 3-lobed, deeply cordate, crenate-dentate to subentire, acute or acuminate, minutely stellate-pubescent above and beneath; petioles 1/4 -3/4 as long as the blades. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, more or less aggregated apically in a racemiform inflorescence; pedicels up to 5.5 cm long; calyx (in flower) 12-15 mm long, minutely stellate pubescent, with lanceolate-acuminate lobes; corolla without a dark center, the petals 22-28 mm long, lavender; staminal column ca. 20 mm long, the androecium subequal to the petals, with a few minute hairs but essentially glabrous, pallid, the filaments 3-5 mm long, the anthers lavender (?), the pollen orange; styles unknown.
