Descripción
Erect herbs or subshrubs 0.5-1.5 m tall, the stems minutely and evenly stellate- puberulent. Leaf blades 3-7 cm long (often smaller), ovate (juvenile leaves) to hastately 3-lobed, becoming progressively narrower upward, obscurely crenate, acute, minutely and sparsely stellate-pubescent, sometimes with a purple blotch along midvein; petioles 1/4-1 times as long as the blades. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, often aggregated apically in a raceme or panicle more or less above the leaves; pedicels 1-4 cm long; calyx 4-6 mm long (not accrescent), minutely puberulent; corolla without a dark center, the petals 6-15 mm long, whitish to lavender; staminal column 3-4 mm long, pallid, with long transparent hairs distally, the filaments 2 mm long, the anthers and pollen yellow; styles 12-13, sometimes reddish. Fruits 8-9 mm in diameter, oblate, whitish pubescent; mericarps 12-13, with a short umbo on dorsal wall, the lateral walls evanescent; seeds 3 mm long, completely enclosed in a persistent reticulate endocarp.
