Descripción
Erect, little-branched, robust herbs to 2 m tall, the stems, petioles, and pedicels minutely and evenly tomentose. Leaf blades mostly 6-8 cm long, broadly ovate- pentangular or shallowly lobed below, progressively more deeply lobed to hastately trilobed above, remotely serrate to subentire, the margins and main veins beneath minutely scabridulous, otherwise glabrate, sometimes with purplish blotch along midvein; petioles 1/3-1 times as long as the blades. Inflorescence an open terminal raceme; pedicels 1-3.5 (-6.5) cm long; calyx 6~9 mm long in flower, accrescent to 12 the mm long in fruit, 10-ribbed, densely pubescent; corolla without a dark center, petals 10-19 mm long, white or rose drying to pink or lavender (the claw remaining white); staminal column 3-5 mm long, whitish, prominently hirsute apically, the filaments 3-4 mm long; styles 11-15. Fruits 8-9 mm in diameter, oblate, stellate-tomentose; mericarps 11-15, dorsally umbonate, the lateral walls evanescent; seeds completely enclosed in a persistent reticulate endocarp 2.5-3 mm long.
