Descripción
Small dioecious trees to 10 m tall with grayish bark, the young stems green, glabrate. Leaf blades mostly 11-21 cm long, about as wide as long, broadly ovate or weakly 3-lobed, usually cordate, acute or acuminate, glabrate, with 5-7 small nectaries on principal nerves beneath; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades (sometimes longer). Flowers 2-8 in the leaf axils; pedicels 1-2.5 cm long (in flower) to 1.5-4 cm long (in fruit), slender, yellowish puberulent; involucellar nectaries absent; involucellar bractlets 3, 1-3 (-8) mm long, subulate, usually caducous; calyx 4-8 mm long, yellowish puberulent; petals 1-1.5 cm long; filaments of staminate flowers 5-9 mm long. Capsules 1.5-2 cm long, globose, coriaceous, externally green-puberulent, internally glabrous except hirsute along suture of dehiscence; seeds ca. 8 mm long, 1-2 per locule, blackish.
