Descripción
Dioecious trees 5-20 m tall, the herbage brownish tomentose, the bark grayish. Leaf blades mostly 12-22 cm long, ca. twice as long as wide, ovate or elliptic, truncate, acute or acuminate, brownish tomentose, with 3-5 (-7) inconspicuous nectaries on principal veins beneath; petioles 1/3-1/2 the length of the blades; stipules 2-5 mm long. Flowers 1-8 in the leaf axils; pedicels ca. 1 cm long (in flower) to 3 cm long (in fruit), densely yellowish brown-puberulent; involucellar nectaries absent; involucellar bractlets 3, 1-3 mm long, subulate, often persistent; calyx 4-7 mm long, yellow-puberulent except glabrate on margin; petals 1 cm long; filaments of staminate flowers 3-7 mm long; style of pistillate flowers contorted, subequal to petals. Capsules 2-3.5 cm long, globose, 3-loculed, coriaceous, externally yellow- puberulent, internally glabrous except hirsute along suture of dehiscence, the hairs 1 mm long; seeds 6-10 mm long, 2-4 per locule, dark brown.
