Shrubs or small trees 2-3 m tall, densely pubescent and more or less ferrugineous. Leaf blades mostly 9-13 cm long, ovate, cordate or truncate, acute or acuminate, discolorous, minutely pubescent above and beneath; petioles usually ca. half the length of the blades. Flowers solitary (or sometimes paired) in the leaf axils; pedicels 1-2 cm long, stellate-pubescent, generally grouped at the ends of branches; calyx 0.7-1.4 cm long, stellate-pubescent, ca. half-divided; petals 2.5-3.5 cm long, yellow with a red spot at the base, densely pubescent on margins of claw, otherwise essentially glabrous; staminal column ca. 1 cm long, pubescent, the filaments 3-5 mm long; styles 11-12, glabrous. Fruits 11-13 mm in diameter, oblate; mericarps 11-12, 9-11 mm long, apically acute, not winged, 3-4-seeded; seeds ca. 3 mm long, sparsely pubescent. Chromosome number unknown. A
