Descripción
Shrubs or small trees to 5 m tall, the young growth densely ferrugineous-stellate- tomentose. Leaf blades mostly 10-22 cm long, broadly ovate (the leaves smaller and narrower above), deeply cordate to subtruncate, acuminate, discolorous, minutely and obscurely pubescent above, densely pubescent and more or less ferrugineous beneath; petioles usually ca. half the length of the blades, sometimes nearly equaling blades on lower leaves. Flowers solitary or paired in the leaf axils; pedicels 5-12 cm long, densely pubescent; calyx 2.5-3 cm long, thick-textured, half or more divided, strongly keeled, stellate-pubescent; corolla rotate, the petals 3.5-4 (-5) cm long, broadly obovate, yellow, abaxially stellate-pubescent, adaxially glabrous, the mar- gins of the claw glabrous; staminal column 25-35 mm long, glabrous, the filaments 5- 10 mm long, numerous; styles 16-24, slender, pubescent or glabrous.
