Descripción
Small trees to ca. 6 m tall, the young growth densely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 6-11 cm long, ovate (broadly so and cordate below to narrower and truncate above), acuminate or acute, slightly discolorous, stellate-pubescent be- neath, sparsely so to glabrate above; petioles ca. half the length of the blades (sometimes longer). Flowers in clusters on the ends of short lateral branches or these grouped apically; pedicels mostly 2.5-4.5 cm long, flexuous, stellate- pubescent; calyx 7-12 mm long, stellate-pubescent, ca. half-divided; petals 2-3 cm long, yellow, sometimes reddish at the base; staminal column 7-8 mm long, pallid, stellate-pubescent, the filaments 4-6 mm long; styles 11-15, glabrous. Fruits 16-17 mm in diameter, subglobose; mericarps 11-15, dorsally with narrow (1-2 mm) lacerate wing bearing stipitate hairs, 2-3-seeded; seeds 3.5 mm long, glabrate. Chromosome number unknown. A
