Descripción
Shrubs to 3 m tall, the young growth densely orange stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 7-15 cm long, broadly ovate, cordate, acute or acuminate, somewhat discolorous, densely stellate-pubescent beneath, sparsely so to glabrate above; petioles half the length of the blades or less. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 6-8 cm long (or longer?), densely orange-pubescent; calyx ca. 2 cm long, thick-textured, orange-pubescent, tubular-campanulate, less than half-divided, ribbed; petals ca. 4 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, narrowly spatulate, attenuate and forming a long claw, white or pale yellow, more or less erect, abaxially pubescent toward base; staminal column ca. 3 cm long, slender, glabrous, the filaments 2-4 mm long; styles ca. 10, slender, pubescent, purplish (?). Fruits ca. 17 mm in diameter, flaring distally; mericarps dorsally with a narrow lacerate wing; seeds ca. 3 mm long, pubescent, solitary (?) at base of mericarp (upper ovules abortive?).
