Descripción
Coarse herbs or subshrubs to 2 m tall, the stems hispid with pungent hairs 1-3 mm long and with longitudinal lines of fine recurved hairs. Leaf blades mostly 9-16 cm long, cordate, angularly ovate to deeply 3-7-lobed, crenate-serrate, the lobes acute, roughly stellate-pubescent, the hairs simple above, stellate beneath; petioles 1/3-2/3 the length of the blades; stipules 610 mm long, linear, hispid. Inflorescence a large open panicle rising above the leaves; pedicels 0.5-1.5 cm long; involucellar bracts 6-10, 2-5 mm long, somewhat hispid, persistent; calyx 9-12 mm long, minutely stellate-pubescent, often flushed rose; corolla tubular, the petals 2.5-3 cm long, erect, convolute, yellow, abaxially stellate-pubescent; staminal column prominently exserted, slender, yellow, the filaments 1-1.5 mm long; styles minutely pubescent, divergent, exceeding the androecium. Capsules 6 mm long, 10 mm in diameter, prominently hispid, often flushed rose at maturity; seeds 3 mm long, essentially gtabrous. Chromosome number: 2n = 38.A
