Descripción
Herbs or subshrubs 1-2 m tall, the stems greenish and densely to sparsely hispid, the hairs yellowish, usually simple (sometimes stellate), 1-3 mm long. Leaf blades up to 13 cm long, progressively reduced upward, truncate, digitately divided nearly to the base, 3-7- (usually 5)-lobed, the lobes narrowly lanceolate, coarsely serrate, acute or acuminate, sparsely hispid; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades. Inflorescence racemose or paniculate, the flowers solitary in the leaf axils (but leaves greatly reduced in inflorescence); pedicels 0.5-2 cm long, slender; involucellar bracts 7-9, 2-3 mm long, subulate, hispid; calyx 5-6 mm long, hispid; corolla rotate, the petals 11-15 mm long, when fresh pale lavender with yellow base, drying yellow, essentially glabrous throughout (including the claw); staminal column ca. 1 cm long, glabrous, pallid, markedly declined, the filaments up to 1.5 mm long; styles glabrous, pallid. Capsules 6-8 mm in diameter, minutely pubescent throughout and with prominent uncinate hairs on wings; seeds 3.5 mm long, glabrous. Chromosome number: 2n = 38.A
