Descripción
Perennial herbs 0.5-1.5 m tall, the stems hispid with bulbous-based hairs 1-2 mm long. Leaf blades up to 8§ cm long (smaller upward), strongly hastate, the central lobe narrowly triangular becoming narrowly lanceolate upward, serrate, acute, sparsely hirsute; petioles less than half the length of the blades (leaves subsessile in inflorescence). Inflorescence a diffuse panicle, the flowers solitary or paired; pedicels up to 6 cm long, slender; involucellar bracts 7-9, 4-6 mm long, hispid; calyx 6-8 mm long, sparsely hispid; corolla rotate, the petals 15~18 mm long, abaxially stellate-pubescent, adaxially glabrous (including claw), pink with a yellow spot at the base that is bordered by red; staminal column ca. 1 cm long, pallid, glabrous, the filaments 1-1.5 mm long; styles essentially glabrous, the stigmas 0.4-0.8 mm in diameter, reddish. Capsules ca. 6 mm long, ca. 8 mm in diameter, minutely pubescent throughout and strigose on wings; seeds 3 mm long, dark brown with fine striations, glabrous. Chromosome number: 2n = 38.A
