Descripción
Subshrubs to 2 m tall, the stems minutely and sparsely stellate-pubescent (the hairs ca. 0.5 mm long), more or less purplish pigmented. Leaf blades ovate to shallowly 3-lobed, cordate to truncate, serrate, acute or acuminate, stellate pubescent above and beneath, heterotrichous (some hairs 1 mm long, others 0.1- 0.2 mm long); petioles half the length of the blades or less. Inflorescence an essentially leafless terminal panicle; pedicels 0.5-1 cm long; involucellar bracts 8-9, 3 mm long, calyx 7-8 mm long, minutely stellate-tomentose, the base yellowish, the lobes purplish, narrowly triangular; corolla tubular, the petals 2.5 cm long, erect, convolute, abaxially glandular-puberulent, adaxially glabrous, pink; androecium exserted (about twice the length of the corolla), slender, glabrous, with few (ca. 10?) yellow anthers distally, the filaments 1.5 mm long; styles exceeding the androecium, the stigmas red. Capsules 9 mm in diameter, each lobe with a prominent ridge (along suture of dehiscence), the ridge hispid (hairs 1 mm), otherwise densely and minutely stellate-tomentose (the hairs 0.1-0.2 mm long); seeds unknown.
