Description
Subshrubs ca. 1.5 m tall, few-branched, the stems stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 3-5 cm long (reduced upward), ovate, more or less truncate, serrate, acute, stellate-pubescent above and beneath; petioles 1.5-3 cm long on lower leaves but progressively shorter upward; stipules 5-6 mm long, pubescent, lanceolate or falcate, tardily caducous. Inflorescence an interrupted terminal raceme; floral bracts bifid, longer than wide; pedicels up to 1.5 mm long; involucellar bracts 5-7 mm long, lanceolate; calyx 9-10 mm long, ca. half-divided, densely pubescent, campanulate, enclosing fruit; petals 10-12 mm long; staminal column pubescent, the anthers usually 60 or more; styles and stigmas 10-13, the stigmas obscurely developed, scarcely exceeding the androecium. Fruits 7-8 mm in diameter, tan or brown; mericarps usually 12, ca. 3 mm long, apically finely pubescent, the lateral walls slightly ribbed, dull surfaced, with 2 dorsal cusps ca. 0.5 mm long, endoglossum absent; seeds ca. 2 mm long.
