Descripción
Low subshrubs, the stems with appressed 3-5-armed hairs. Leaf blades mostly 2-6 cm long, ovate, truncate to somewhat cuneate, dentate, the upper surface with 4-5-armed stellate hairs; petioles mostly 1/4-1/2 the length of the blades, rarely longer; stipules mostly 3-5 mm long. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils of the upper leaves, subsessile, becoming congested and spicate on branch tips, the spikes usually less than 3 cm long, the individual flowers bracteate and subtended by an involucel of 3 lanceolate bractlets; calyx 5-6 mm long, accrescent to 7-11 mm in fruit, moderately pubescent; corolla exceeding the calyx; androecium yellowish, the column stellate-pubescent; styles and stigmas 11-13. Fruits 5-6.5 mm in diameter; mericarps 11-13, apically setose, laterally pubescent, with cusps greatly suppressed, with a minute (0.1-0.3 mm) endoglossum; seeds 1.6-1.8 mm long.
