Description
Subshrubs ca. 1.5 m tall, few-branched, the stems stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades mostly 2-6 cm long, ovate, more or less truncate, serrate, acute, stellate pubescent above and beneath; petioles 2-3.5 cm long on lower leaves but progressively shorter upward; stipules 5-6 mm long, lanceolate or falcate. Inflorescence an interrupted terminal raceme; floral bracts bifid, longer than wide; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long (rarely longer); involucellar bracts 4-6 mm long, lanceolate; calyx 6-8 mm long, more than half-divided, sparsely pubescent, patent in fruit; petals 6-8 mm long; staminal column pubescent, the anthers usually 35-45; styles and stigmas 9-12, exceeding the androecium by 1-1.5 mm. Fruits 6-7 mm in diameter, tan or brown but pale rose before drying; mericarps 9-12, ca. 3-4 mm long, apically setose, the lateral walls conspicuously ribbed, dull-surfaced, with 2 dorsal cusps 1- 1.5 mm long, endoglossum absent; seeds ca. 2 mm long.
