Descripción
Shrubs 0.5-1.5 m tall, the stems greenish with nodal pigmentation poorly developed, densely and very finely velvety, the hairs 0.1 mm long or less, occasion- ally often with a few larger hairs on young growth. Leaf blades up to 6 cm long (but smaller), ovate, cordate, serrate, acuminate, somewhat discolorous, minutely stellate-pubescent above and beneath; petioles usually somewhat shorter than the blades. Inflorescence a more or less leafless raceme, flowers solitary or paired in the leaf axils (or sometimes cymosely aggregated); pedicels usually 1 cm or less long, densely stellate-pubescent and sometimes also with few to many long simple hairs; calyx 6-9 mm long, ca. half-divided, prominently ribbed, densely stellate-pubescent and also densely invested with long (1-1.5 mm) simple hairs; petals 8-9 mm long, pale lavender, marginally ciliate on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column ca. 1 mm long, the filaments 4 mm long; styles 3, glabrous, subequal to the anthers.
