Descripción
Multistemmed perennial to 2 m tall, the stems densely whitish or yellowish pubescent, the stellate hairs with numerous arms. Leaf blades mostly 2-5 cm long, 1-2 times as long as wide, ovate-hastate or 3-5-lobed to deeply 3-cleft, densely pubescent. Inflorescence paniculate; pedicels 10-30 mm long; involucellar bractlets to 3 mm long; calyx 6-7 mm long, the lobes ovate-lanceolate; petals 10-13 mm long, variously colored (white, pink, lavender, purple, grenadine, red) but not yellow, short-clawed; staminal column 6-8 mm long, sparingly pubescent; styles 12-14. Fruits equaling or slightly exceeding the calyces, truncate-conical; mericarps 12-14, up to 5.5 mm long, 1-2-seeded, ca. half as wide, with apical cusp 1 mm long, the lower (indehiscent) portion chartaceous and reticulate-walled laterally, the upper (dehiscent) portion smooth, the lower portion ca.
