Descripción
Subshrubs or shrubs to 2.5 m tall, stems softly pubescent, hairs yellowish, stellate and glandular. Leaf blades mostly 10-20 cm long (but much reduced in the inflorescence), broadly ovate, cordate (often deeply so), crenate-dentate, usually acute, sometimes acuminate, softly pubescent, discolorous; petioles 1/2-1 times as long as the blades; stipules 5-6 mm long, filiform. Inflorescence a terminal panicle; pedicels up to 3 cm long (mostly shorter), viscid; calyx 6~8 mm long, stellate- pubescent and viscid, ca. half-divided or less, the lobes apiculate, with prominent midribs; petals 14-18 mm long, orange-yellow; staminal column 4 mm long, the filaments 3-4 mm long; styles slightly exceeding the androecium. Fruits 6-8 mm long, stellate- and glandular-pubescent; mericarps apically subacute to rounded, endoglossum absent; seeds ca. 2.3 mm long, black. Chromosome number: 2n = 16.A
