Subshrubs or shrubs 1-2 m tall, the stems yellowish pubescent, the hairs both stellate and glandular. Leaf blades mostly 7-15 cm long (reduced upward), broadly ovate or shallowly 3-lobed, deeply cordate, crenate-dentate, acute or acuminate, densely and softly pubescent above and beneath, more or less discolorous; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades; stipules 5-6 mm long, filiform. Inflorescence usually an open terminal panicle, more or less above the leaves; pedicels 1-2 (-3) cm long, viscid; calyx 8-12 mm long, densely stellate- and glandular-pubescent, ca. half-divided, the lobes apiculate, with a prominent midrib; petals 10-25 mm long, orange-yellow; staminal column ca. 4 mm long, the filaments 4-6 mm long; styles slender, glabrous, slightly exceeding androecium. Fruits 7-9 mm long, stellate- and glandular-pubescent; mericarps apically rounded with a short (1 mm) apiculus, endoglossum absent; seeds 2.5-3 mm long, blackish. Chromosome number: 2n = 16.A
