Shrubs 1-1.5 m tall, densely yellowish pubescent, the hairs stellate, somewhat rough to the touch. Leaf blades mostly 6-11 cm long (reduced upward), ovate to triangular-ovate, cordate, irregularly dentate to denticulate, usually acute, roughly stellate-pubescent above and beneath, discolorous; petioles subequal to the blades below but shorter upwards; stipules 4-5 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils or more commonly aggregated in terminal racemes or panicles with reduced leaves; pedicels 0.5-2 cm long, densely yellowish stellate-pubescent; calyx 8- 12 ca. mm long, densely yellowish pubescent, truncate and strongly 10-ribbed at base, half-divided, the lobes carinate, apiculate; petals 13-20 mm long, yellow- orange; staminal column 3-4 mm long, the filaments 2-5 mm long; styles subequal to androecium, the stigmas maroon.
