Descripción
Low shrubs less than 1 m tall, the young stems densely and minutely whitish or yellowish tomentose, the internodes very short and the leaf scars of older stems crowded. Leaf blades 1.5-3 cm long, orbicular, deeply cordate, crenate, shallowly 5- lobed, the lobes obtuse, densely and minutely yellowish tomentose, concolorous; petioles equaling or exceeding the blades. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, pedicels subequal to the calyces; involucel cupuliform, 3-lobed, up to 1 cm long, with vesture like leaves; calyx 16 -22 mm long in flower to 26 mm long in fruit, with vesture like leaves, the lobes triangular; corolla campanulate, the petals 3-3.5 cm long, erect, deep purple, broadly obovate, glabrous including the margins of the claw; staminal column ca. 28 mm long, glabrous, pallid, the filaments ca. 2 mm long, the anthers pallid; styles 8-10. Fruits 9-12 mm in diameter, enclosed by the calyx, glabrous; mericarps 8~10, smooth; seeds unknown. Chromosome number unknown.A,1
