Descripción
Shrub or tree to 7 m tall, the twigs densely and minutely yellowish puberulent, the hairs stellate, ca. 0.2 mm long. Leaf blades mostly 3-6 (-9) cm long, ovate, deeply cordate to subtruncate, serrate or undulate to subentire, acute to obtuse, slightly discolorous, roughly yellowish stellate-pubescent beneath, sparsely so above; petioles 1-3 cm long; stipules 1-1.5 mm long. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils but often crowded apically; pedicels 4-30 mm long; calyx 10-14 mm long, minutely yellowish puberulent; petals 1.5-2.5 cm long, yellow, marginally pubes- cent on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column 4 mm long, the filaments 2-5 mm long, the anthers yellow, styles 8-10, the stigmas purplish or pallid. Fruits 10-12 mm in diameter; mericarps 8-10, 5.5 mm long, laterally smooth, dorsally fur- rowed; seeds 3.5 mm long. Chromosome number unknown. A
