Descripción
Shrubs or small trees to 10 m tall, the twigs minutely pubescent to glabrate. Leaf blades mostly 8-16 cm long, 1.5-2 times as long as wide, ovate, usually truncate (rarely subcordate), crenate-serrate, acute or acuminate, glabrate above and beneath; petioles glabrate, 1/2-2/3 the length of the blades; stipules 6-13 mm long. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, with pedicels up to 8 cm long but mostly subsessile and crowded at the branch tips; calyx 15-22 mm long, minutely puberulent, obscurely 10-nerved; petals 2.5-4.5 cm long, yellow or orange-yellow, ciliate on margins of claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column 5-8 mm long, the filaments 4-7 mm long, the anthers yellow; styles ca. 10. Fruits ca. 1 cm in diameter, glabrous; mericarps ca. 10, 10-11 mm long, dorsally furrowed; seeds unknown. Chromosome number unknown. A
