Descripción
Shrubs 3-4 m tall, the stems densely tomentose, the hairs stellate, often stalked, many-armed. Leaf blades mostly 6-10 cm long, palmately 3-5-lobed or -angled, cordate, crenate, acute, stellate-tomentose beneath, sparsely so above; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades; stipules ca. 4 mm long. Peduncles up to 5 cm long, axillary, usually uniflorate; involucellar bracts 3, 10-13 mm long, almost as wide, broadly ovate, sessile, acute, sparsely tomentose, persistent; calyx 16~20 mm long, densely tomentose, the lobes ovate-acuminate, 3-nerved; petals 3-3.5 cm long, rose (or drying darker), ciliate on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column shorter than the petals, the filaments 2-3 mm long (except petaloid in double-flowered specimens), the pollen pale yellow; styles 25-30, glabrous distally, the stigmas obliquely capitate or unilaterally decurrent; fruits unknown.
