Descripción
Perennial herbs, the stems prostrate to ascending, glabrate, weakly angulate. Leaf blades 1-2 cm long, about as wide or somewhat wider, 3-lobed (rarely 5-lobed), the lobes obovate-obtuse (or -apiculate), the base constricted (sinus open), glabrate above, sparsely pubescent beneath, the margins ciliate; petioles subequal to the blades, stipules 4 mm long, lanceolate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels 1.5~ 3.5 cm long in flower to 8 cm long in fruit, sparsely pubescent to glabrate; involucellar nectaries absent; involucellar bracts 8-10, 4-6 mm long, linear-lanceolate, ciliate; calyx ca. 10 mm long, whitish in intercostal areas, otherwise green, ca. half-divided, the lobes 3-ribbed, ciliate, acute or acuminate; petals 2 cm long, pale yellow or cream-colored with a red-purple spot at the base, stellate-pubescent abaxially, glabrous adaxially; staminal column 6 mm long, pallid to purplish, glabrous, the filaments 2—-3 mm long, purple, the anthers and pollen yellow-orange; style pallid, glabrous, subequal to petals, the stigma capitate, 3 (-4)-lobed, purplish, villous. Capsules 6-9 mm long, subspherical, verruculate, externally and internally glabrous, 3 (-4)-loculate; seeds 3.5 mm long, densely pubescent, the hairs crimped, appressed, silvery-gray.
