Descripción
Annual herbs or subshrubs to 1.5 m tall, with a single erect stem or branching widely in the inflorescence, the leafy portion of the stem densely stellate-pubescent, sparsely so in the inflorescence. Leaf blades mostly 6-15 cm long, obscurely crenate, acuminate, somewhat discolorous, minutely stellate-pubescent above and beneath, more densely so beneath; petioles densely and evenly pubescent. Inflorescence a leafless, terminal, spiciform raceme, robust specimens also with elongate lateral racemes, flowers subsessile; calyx 3 mm long, minutely pubescent; petals 4— 5 mm long; androecium included, the filaments 1-1.5 mm long; styles 5-7. Fruits 7-9 mm in diameter, minutely strigose; mericarps 5-7, 3-seeded, the upper cell with 2 collateral seeds; seeds ca. 2 mm long, minutely strigose. Chromosome number: 2n = 14. A
