Descripción
Subshrubs to 2.5 m tall with several stems from the base, little branched, the stems minutely soft-puberulent and with larger stellate hairs intermixed. Leaf blades 4-9 cm long (smaller upward), broadly ovate (broadest at the base), cordate, entire (the margin curved), acuminate, discolorous, softly and minutely tomentose; petioles 1/3 the length of the blades to equaling the blades, reduced upward and the leaves almost sessile in the inflorescence; stipules 3-5 mm long, subulate. Inflorescence a crowded terminal panicle forming an elongated racemoid structure, essentially leafless; pedicels 3-8 (-15) mm long, calyx 3-3.5 mm long, ca. half-divided; petals 4-7 mm long, white; androecium yellowish, pubes cent, the filaments longer than the column. Occurs widely in South America, in parts of the West Indies, and in Guatemala. It is known in Mexico from a single roadside collection from near the Chiapas-Guatemala border, where it was fruiting in November.A
