Descripción
Erect subshrubs to 1 m tall, the stems with distinctive pectinate hairs (the appressed hairs stellate, predominantly 3-4-armed, the arms all distally oriented). Leaf blades mostly 6-10 cm long, ovate, subcordate to truncate, crenate-dentate, acute or acuminate, with appressed simple hairs 1 mm long above, with appressed simple or bifurcate hairs 0.5 mm long beneath; petioles ¥2-% the length of the blades; stipules 3-4 mm long, subulate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils; pedicels up to 9 cm long in flower, to 13 cm long in fruit (subequal to subtending leaves), slender, with pubescence like that of stem becoming denser distally; calyx 13-14 (-18) mm long, more than half-divided, with pectinate pubescence like stem and also with longer hairs (some simple) up to 1 mm long; petals 2.5-3 cm long, erect, glabrous or sparsely glandular-pubescent abaxially; androecium ca. 3.5 cm long, exserted, the column pallid, minutely and sparsely glandular-puberulent, the filaments 3-4 mm long, the anthers ca. 40, pallid; styles 12-15, pallid, slender. Fruits [immature] hispid; mericarps 12-15, dorsally spurred, the spur ca. 2.5 mm long. Chromosome number unknown.A
