Descripción
Shrubs 2-5 m tall, the stems minutely stellate-puberulent, also in the inflo- rescence with long simple hairs (0.5-1.5 mm long) and glandular hairs. Leaf blades mostly 8-14 cm long, ovate, truncate, serrate, acuminate, glabrate above, minutely stellate-puberulent beneath, essentially concolorous; petioles 1/2-1 times the length of the blades. Flowers in terminal panicles with numerous linear stipuliform floral bracts less than 1 mm wide; pedicels 1-5 (-12) mm long; calyx 6-8 mm long, with stellate hairs and usually also with simple hairs 1-2 mm long; petals 5-8 mm long, yellow or yellow-orange with a dark red spot at base; staminal column 2 mm long, scabrid (hairs 0.5 mm long), the filaments often purplish; styles 6-7. Fruits 5 mm in diameter, beakless, of 6-7 mericarps, apically stellate-pubescent; mericarps in the form of a semicircular wedge with relatively flat dorsal walls; seeds 1.5 mm long.
