Subshrubs 1-1.5 m tall, little branched, the stems minutely scurfy-puberulent glabrate. Leaf blades mostly 6-11 cm long, broadly ovate (narrower upward), truncate or slightly cordate, crenate-dentate, acuminate, minutely and obscurely pubescent; petioles 1/2-2/3 the length of the blades. Inflorescence an interrupted raceme occasionally paniculately branched; flowers 1-4 in axillary glomerules; pedicels 1-5 mm long, with floral bracts lance-linear, often more than 1 mm wide; calyx 4-6 mm long, densely stellate-puberulent; petals 4-5 mm long, yellow, occasionally with a basal spot; staminal column 1.5 mm long, sparsely pubescent, the hairs 0.1-0.2 mm long; styles (7-) 8-9. Fruits 4.5~5 mm in diameter, minutely stellate-pubescent, of (7-) 8-9 mericarps, with a ring of short divergent spurs around a central depression; seeds 1.8 mm long. Chromosome number unknown. A
