Shrubs 1-3 m tall, the stems with stellate pubescence. Leaf blades mostly 5-10 cm long, ovate, cordate, crenate, acute, reduced upwards, stellate-pubescent above and beneath, concolorous; petioles approximately half the length of the blades. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, usually in terminal leafy racemes or panicles; pedicels shorter than the calyces; calyx 6-10 mm long, each sepal with a prominent midrib, sometimes viscid; petals 7-8 mm long; styles 5. Fruits 8~10 mm in diameter, oblate, 5-ceiled, loculicidally dehiscent, glandular-pubescent, aristate (the aristae ca. 3 mm long); seeds 2.5 mm long, minutely puberulent. Chromosome number: 2n = 28. A
