Description

Herbs or subshrubs 0.5-2 m tall, the stems usually hispid, sometimes very sparsely so. Leaf blades mostly 4-9 cm long, orbicular to ovate, 5-angled or slightly lobulate, truncate, serrate, acute or obtuse, sparsely hispid to glabrate; petioles half the length of the blades to equaling (or exceeding) the blades; stipules 7-14 mm long. Inflorescence a series of compact axillary glomerules, short pedunculate or sessile, with several specialized floral bracts; bracts cordate with linear divisions at base, acuminate, often with white reticulate tissue basally, often hispid; involucel absent; calyx 6-8 mm long, hispid; petals 1-1.5 cm long, yellow.
