Descripción
Shrubs ca. 1 m tall, the stems softly stellate-tomentose, the hairs ca. 0.1 mm long. Leaf blades mostly 4-7 cm long, ovate to lance-ovate, cordate, coarsely and shallowly crenate, acute or sometimes acuminate, discolorous, sparsely pubescent above, densely velvety beneath; petioles 1/2-3/4 the length of the blades; stipules absent. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, cleistogamous; pedicels 3-5 cm long (exceeding the subtending petioles), slender; calyx 10-13 mm long, ca. half- divided, the lobes 5-7 mm wide, minutely stellate-tomentose; petals white, pubes- cent. Fruits ca. 1 cm in diameter, disciform, 8-11-lobed, minutely pubescent; meri- carps 8-11, the lower cell nearly covered by a divided endoglossum 3-4 mm long; seeds ca. 2.5 mm long, minutely scabridulous.
